Georgian Construction Group (GCG LLC) was founded in 2014 with the support of WT Group and its partners. The company produces asphalt and bitumen emulsion at its own base, builds and rehabilitates roads with its own machines, and tests materials in its own laboratory.
Production base in Vaziani
The base stands on a 27,000 m² site in the village of Vaziani, Gardabani district, about 20 minutes from Tbilisi. It houses a German Benninghoven ECO 2000 asphalt plant in the 160 tonnes per hour class. In its first season, from May to December 2017, the plant produced and sold 80,000 tonnes of asphalt.
The plant makes dense-graded asphalt concrete, stone mastic asphalt (SMA) and base-course mixes. Adhesion additives made by Italy’s Iterchimica and supplied by Chemicals, another WT Group company, are dosed in-line at the plant.
Bitumen emulsion
In 2007 WT Group acquired a Danish emulsion plant built by ENH Engineering, which now operates within Georgian Construction Group. It produces cationic emulsions for tack coat, surface treatment and cold recycling. The company delivers and applies the emulsion with its own machines:
- A 29-tonne heated emulsion transporter
- A 12-tonne emulsion sprayer
- A Robuste Kaiser surface-treatment unit
Road works
Since 2014 the company has rebuilt road bases by cold in-place recycling and stabilization with a Wirtgen WR2000. It also does asphalt milling, surface treatment, micro surfacing and asphalt paving. Recent paving projects:
- Bakurtsikhe–Tsnori highway, Kakheti: 16.5 km, March to July 2024
- Sagarejo bypass, Kakheti: bridges and junctions, September 2024 to January 2025
- Zarzma–Goderdzi road at the Goderdzi Pass: August to September 2025
Laboratory
The company’s accredited laboratory in Tbilisi tests aggregates, concrete, asphalt, bitumen and soils.
